Look at what you've quietly stopped doing.
The Friday drinks you passed on because Saturday was already spoken for. Leaving at ten with a reason ready. Nursing one glass all night so Sunday survives. Saying "I can't, we've got plans" often enough that people stopped asking. None of that felt like a decision at the time. It felt like being sensible.
But it adds up to a weekend that got a little smaller every year, to protect two days that a sachet could have protected instead.
You didn't get worse at drinking. Your recovery got slower, and nobody gave you anything that dealt with both halves of that. Now something does.
Say yes to the Friday. Keep the weekend.
